FIA-Chicago Hosts a Triumphant Health Fair Alongside a Coat and Blanket Drive

CHICAGO, IL- The Federation of Indian Associations, Chicago (FIA), organized a successful Health Fair and Coat and Blanket donation drive at the Golf Maine Community Center in Niles, attended by hundreds of people from Chicagoland. The event, focused on FIA’s core values of community service, provided free medical services and involved over 40 dedicated volunteers.

The event featured various medical specialties offering free services, including doctors, Medicare, Medicaid, and Home Care Solutions representatives. Dr. Raj Dhingra and Dr. Parag Doshi addressed health-related topics, while Dr. Alamdar Badar and Ashima discussed dental care. Innovative technology for foot problem detection, using artificial intelligence, was a highlight. Anu Malhotra conducted stress relief exercises, and Dr. Usha Karthan emphasized the importance of identifying psychological issues.

In the second phase, FIA Chairman Sunil Shah highlighted the organization’s commitment to community service, addressing the healthcare needs of the underinsured or uninsured. President Vinita Gulabani and President-Elect Pratibha Jairath discussed past and upcoming events, including a ‘Toy donations and Coat drive’ focusing on children and young adults.

The program’s third phase included a speech by Chief Guest Ms. Michelle Mussman, State Representative of Illinois. Awards were presented to volunteers who contributed significantly to FIA’s growth in 2023. Special recognition went to Jayantibhai Thakkar for his 40th health fair. Past President Neil Khot outlined upcoming events, including Visa Services, Tax services, and General Counseling.

The Consulate General of India Chicago supported the program. Kamlesh Kapoor expressed gratitude in the vote of thanks, acknowledging sponsors, FIA Leadership, healthcare providers, and Ila Patel, the Executive Director, for their generous contributions. The event concluded with a healthy lunch designed by FIA’s dietitian.
