Fake Lawyer Practicing In Kerala Won The Bar Elections & Fled With Legal Documents

In what looks like a ‘desi’ Suits series, a lady named Sessy Xavier from Kerala has left everyone shook after she faked her way up and practiced as a lawyer for almost two years before being busted. Sessy Xavier was practicing as an advocate in Alappuzha (Aleppey) in Kerala for over two years, and was not even a qualified LLB degree holder. She joined as a junior advocate and was working with a law firm, and even applied for membership to the Allepey Bar council, which was eventually given!

She appeared and fought for a lot of cases in the court, and was in fact even appointed as an advocate commissioner in some cases. She contested in the Bar Council elections and was appointed as a librarian as well. The twist in the tale began here.

Just like a scene straight out of a con movie, Sessy stole some important documents and files belonging to the council. It was not until an anonymous letter busted her lie that the matter came into the eyes of the authorities.

If you’re wondering how and why she was faking it, well she was once a law student but couldn’t finish her degree due to lack of attendance. She enjoyed a good reputation in the lawyer circle and was well versed with the profession; hence nobody even imagined that she was not a lawyer.

While this sounds and looks pretty hilarious, it is also sad in equal parts because this poses an alarming danger of theft of identity. If people like Sessy continue duping people, one can land in major trouble some day. It is not only a concern for someone faking a law degree, imagine people faking a doctor’s degree and putting lives at risk. One needs to be super careful but the irony here is that the legal authorities need to fix their legal loopholes.
