Enthusiasm marks I-Day festivities by NY Seniors

NEW YORK, NY — Bruhud NY Seniors celebrated India’s Independence Day with flag hoisting, patriotic songs and a colorful dance performance.

The program was organized by Shashikant Patel/Gopi Udeshi on August 15 at Shree Saniswara Temple Bellrose Terrace NY.

S.Grodenchik (NYC Council member), David I Weprin (NYS Assembly member) and Governor Cuomo Rep. Harsh Parekh took part in flag hoisting ceremony.

Speeches by Shashikant Patel and Gopi Udeshi on Independence of the country and the important role played by Indians in the US were very remarkable even as a congratulatory message from Vijay Rupani, Chief Minister of Gujarat, India was received with enthusiasm and read out.

Patel and Udeshi were given certificates of merit by Senator Toby Ann Stavisky. NY State Governor, the City council of NYS assembly also lauded the services of Bruhud NY Seniors.

Various local artistes performed patriotic songs and
dances.

The audience was bowled over by songs of Navin, Kirti Shukla and Virendra Banker. Bharat Natyam and other dances performed on Bollywood and patriotic songs were beautifully choreograph by Shlipa Mithaiwala, not to mention performances of Deepti Patel and Fardeona Yusuf.

NY Seniors members took a pledge to emulate the spirit of both countries to overcome all obstacles and make them two best countries of the world for future generations.
