New Delhi: In the Rajya Sabha, the Opposition condemned “monopolisation of mourning by the government” after being denied permission by the Chair to condole the demise of CDS Gen Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 other defence personnel.

The TMC walked out in protest. The Opposition parties called off their sit-in against the suspension of 12 MPs as a mark of respect to the deceased.”We wanted to pay tribute to the country’s first CDS and had sought two minutes each for floor leaders but the Chair denied it,” said Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge. — TNS
