California Civil Rights Department Dismisses Case Against Cisco Caste Discrimination

On Monday, the California Civil Rights Department voluntarily dismissed its case against two Cisco engineers over allegations of caste-based discrimination. The case that was filed nearly three years ago against Indian Americans Sunder Iyer and Ramana Kompella accused the two of harassing an employee based on caste discrimination. The lawsuit alleged that a Dalit engineer working at Cisco’s San Jose office received lesser pay and fewer opportunities as compared to other colleagues.

The case has now been dismissed by an order of the Santa Clara County Court
