New Delhi, Aug 22 (IANS) The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) Friday approved its biggest housing scheme so far of over 25,000 flats.

"The registration for these flats will begin from Sep 1 and end Oct 9. The draw of lots will be conducted within 15-20 days of the last date of registration," DDA vice-chairman Balvinder Kumar said.

The DDA has introduced a new clause in which a buyer will not be able to sell his flat for the next five years after possession.

About 10 lakh brochures will be printed for the scheme. The flats are divided into four categories — lower income group, middle income group, higher income group and economic weaker section.

Green technology has been used in the newly-built 896 flats. These flats are located in Rohini, Mukherjee Nagar, Dwarka and other areas.

Of the 25,034 flats, 22,627 will be one-bed room apartments. A total 896 flats are newly-built flats out which 512 are for middle income group.

The price for middle income group flats will range between Rs.41.30 lakh and Rs 69.90 lakh, while one-bedroom flats will cost around Rs.10 lakh.

For higher income group flats, the cost will be over 1 crore.

Of these, 700 flats will be reserved for people belonging to economically weaker section (EWS). The registration fee for general category flats will Rs.1 lakh, while it will be Rs.10,000 for EWS flats which will cost between Rs.7 lakh to Rs.11 lakh.
