Best High Schools in US: Payton College High School, Chicago is No. 10 on National Rankings

CHICAGO, IL- The latest rankings of about 18,000 high schools across the US are out. Here are the top Chicago, IL Schools to make the cut

The latest U.S. News and World Report Rankings of nearly 18,000 public high schools in America has just been released. The highest ranked U.S. public schools in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2023-2024 Best High Schools rankings are those whose students demonstrated outstanding outcomes above expectations in math, reading and science state assessments, earned qualifying scores in an array of college-level exams, and graduated in high proportions.

Making to this prestigious list, on number 10 in the country is Chicago Public Schools, Payton College Preparatory High School. With a graduation rate of 98 percent, the school also makes it to number 1 in Illinois High Schools. The second spot amongst Chicago Public School goes to Northside College Preparatory High School which is at number 37 in national ranking. With a curriculum focusing on in-depth study of physics, constitutional law and computer science, most classes at Northside College are honors or advanced placement levels.

Jones College Prep High school from Chicago Public Schools is ranked at number 60 on the list and third within Illinois. Young Magnet High School is ranked at number 63 in national rankings and ranked fourth within Illinois. With a minority enrollment of 73 percent, Young Magnet is one amongst 151 high schools in Chicago. The next spot amongst Chicago Public Schools’ high schools is Lane Technical High School. Ranked at number 73 in national rankings it is ranked fifth within Illinois.

Talking about high school education in Chicago suburbs, the national rankings show that a Lake County school is taking the lead amongst the suburban high schools The Adlai E. Stevenson School is number 201 in national rankings and is at number 6 in Illinois High Schools.
