‘Beat India & Take Blank Cheque’ Ramiz Raja Shares Exciting Chat With ‘Strong Pak Investor’

Ever since former cricketer Ramiz Raja has assumed the position of the chair at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the ill fortune of cricket in the country has been sensationalised by him. From speculating a controversy by the “Western Bloc” to claiming India’s control over cricket operations in Pakistan, the man has tried almost everything to stay in the news.

His recent appearance in the Senate Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial affairs has also produced some interesting comments that provided a clearer picture of exactly how desperate the PCB is for funding and the lengths to which they have gone in order to collect some money of their own.

While talking about pleading to private investors for contributing their generosity towards the cricketing body, Raja even mentioned his conversation with a “strong investor” who is ready to give them a blank cheque provided they defeat Virat Kohli and the Indian cricket team in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021.

“One strong investor told me that a blank cheque is ready for the PCB if Pakistan beats India in the upcoming T20 World Cup,” he said.

In the same meeting, Raja had spoken about how the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has the power to shut down the PCB in an instance if he wanted to, simply because of the kind of financial control Indian businesses have in Pakistani cricket.

“The ICC is a politicised body divided between the Asian and Western blocs and 90 per cent of its revenues are generated from India. It is frightening,” the PCB Chief said, adding that 50 percent of PCB’s budget comes from ICC funding.

“In a way India’s business houses are running Pakistan cricket and if tomorrow the Indian PM decides he will not allow any funding to Pakistan, this cricket board can collapse,” he added.

Within 10-days time, the PCB chair is required to present an elaborate plan for what’s in store for the game of cricket and its governing body in the nation. 

“To me it is simple if the national team cannot do well and win matches it means that everyone in the board from the tea man to the top official have failed in their duties,” he said.
