Audio Recording Feature for Safety Now Available on Uber Rides in Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, SD- Sioux Falls Uber drivers and riders can now use an in-app safety feature that allows them to record audio during trips. The feature has been tested in select US cities since 2021 and is now being rolled out in several new cities. Riders and drivers can start or stop recording at any point during a trip by tapping the blue shield icon on the map screen and hitting “Start” on the “Record Audio” option.

The audio file is encrypted and stored directly on the user’s device once the recording is complete, and no one, including Uber, can listen to the recording unless a safety report is submitted. The feature aims to enhance safety and promote more comfortable interactions while on trips.
