Amid BCCI Mess, Ganguly Hints Tendulkar’s Return To Indian Cricket & Fans Are Worried

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, while finding himself amid a major controversy thanks to Virat Kohli’s candidness in front of the media members, is still making some major moves around the Indian cricket board. Many feel that Dada is setting up a new team of very carefully chosen names to begin the next era of Indian cricket under the leadership of ‘Ganguly And Friends’.

In a recent interview with senior journalist Boria Majumdar, Ganguly also spoke about the future of Indian cricket that may have the legendary batter, Sachin Tendulkar, playing an administrative role while sharing the BCCI’s President’s vision for the betterment of the game in the country.

Ganguly (in Backstage with @BoriaMajumdar) said “At some point, Sachin Tendulkar will also with Indian cricket in future, we need to work out”.

However, Dada admitted that Tendulkar wasn’t the same as the rest of the legendary Indian cricketers who have returned to the game as coaches and other officials and that the ‘Master Blaster’ likes to keep himself distanced from such affairs.

He also said that at the moment, the cricketing world and its top-tier names are surrounded by conflicts that can get in the way of the dream he wishes to achieve. Dada calls some of these conflicts “really really unrealistic” but nonetheless, continues to abide by them.

But considering the kind of controversy that surrounds Ganguly at the moment, Sachin Tendulkar fans have expressed their concerns towards the reputation of the former cricketer:

In the recent past, Ganguly has managed to attract some of the biggest names of Indian cricket to fill up the most important positions on the ground and back in the BCCI office.

For instance, Rahul Dravid, who had refused to take up the role of the Indian head coach for years, finally said yes to the job as soon as Ravi Shastri’s tenure ended. It is safe to say that the inception of Dravid’s career as the head coach has also started on a high note, especially after the Men in Blue dominated the New Zealand side 3-0 in T20Is and also won the Test series 1-0 on home turf.

On the other hand, VVS Laxman was crowned as the bossman of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru after Dravid had to vacate the position to avoid conflict of interest. Before taking up the job at the NCA, Laxman was the mentor for the IPL franchise SunRisers Hyderabad and a batting consultant for Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB)’s Vision Project.
