All You Need To Know About The Kia Carens

The new Kia Carens has been revealed. From the looks of it, the carmaker seems to have worked on packaging the Carens as a spacious, three-row vehicle that is loaded with features and falls somewhere in between an SUV and an MPV.

Design and Space

Design-wise, the styling details are plenty. The Carens gets Kia’s unique Tiger Face design that’s placed a bit lower now, a slim grille, LED headlamps, and daytime running lights. Moving on to the side, it looks SUV-ish and muscular. The Carens rides on 16-inch dual-tone crystal cut alloy wheels. At the rear, the new Kia gets a chrome rear bumper garnish, premium gloss black rear skid plate and an integrated rear spoiler.

 

The Kia Carens measures 4,540mm long, 1,800mm wide and 1,700mm tall. Its wheelbase of 2,780mm is now the longest in the segment.

Engine and Gearbox

Kia has offered a choice of petrol and diesel engines on the Carens. The petrol options include a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated unit capable of 115hp and 144Nm of torque, and a 1.4-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged unit making 140hp and 242Nm of torque. The diesel engine on offer is a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder unit making 115hp and 250Nm. Transmission duties are handled by a 7-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.

Features

On the features list for the Carens is Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, seat-back tables with cup holders and an air purifier. The vehicle is fitted with a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen navigation and Bose premium sound system with eight speakers. Adding more appeal to the Kia is the addition of a sunroof.

Expected to launch early next year, the Kia Carens is said to be available in six-seat and seven-seat configurations.
