Adith Arun on his undying passion for films

BUY-SELL | HELP WANTED | MATRIMONIAL

Hyderabad: Adith Arun has been a lucky actor to have had a chance to rub shoulders with some of the stalwarts in southern cinema. Starting with the veteran filmmaker Gunnam Gangaraju, then character actor Prakash Raj and later with Dhanush, the journey transformed him to look at the craft organically rather than approaching it with logic.

Soon after majoring in journalism, the Visakhapatnam-born actor pounced on an offer that came his way — the 2009 thriller ‘Katha’ starring Genelia D’Souza. “So far, the journey is gratifying as I got to explore some genres that I’ve been dreaming to act in. ‘PSV Garuda Vega’ was a commercial success and a good break for me. I played the role of a hacker in the movie. Later, ’24 Kisses’ was again a big one, but box-office collections weren’t that good, it was digitally dubbed in five languages and it did reasonable business,” he shared.

Then came the horror comedy ‘Chikati Gadilo Chithakotudu’, which was a very-targeted-audience film that got enough appreciation. “You may ask me what if I am tagged as an actor who does adult horrors… No, I feel I am unbranded. As an actor, I should perform even as a beggar provided the script demands it. Because of the pandemic, people got to watch ‘Chikati Gadilo Chithakotudu’ in their homes on the OTT platform. Now, I did a love story ‘Dear Megha’ away from the regular roles that I had played. I am sure it would write off the tag,” smiles Adith.

Explaining his association with ‘Dear Megha’ director Sushanth Reddy, the actor says, “Our love for literature made us share ideas and concepts over the time. I remember when Sushanth, as a young assistant director, came to me to narrate a full-length story. He has a flair for writing thrillers. Romantic tales were not his forte back then. During the pandemic, we were all in darkspaces, so we thought we should try to do something of this sort. I couldn’t have asked for a better story than ‘Dear Megha’ which has varied definitions to the word love. It has more things, apart from discussing “love”. I wish audiences would certainly like it,” he adds.

The ’11th Hour’ actor has another interesting and computer-based concept film ‘WWW’ up for release soon. He is also playing the lead role in the upcoming movie ‘Katha Kanchiki Manam Intiki’ starring Pujitha Ponnada. Touted to be a forensic thriller, a Telugu-Tamil bilingual under the production of Amala Paul’s home banner is getting ready for release.
