AAPI World Health Congress Wraps Up Successfully in New York

NEW YORK, NY- The inaugural World Health Congress organized by the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) concluded on July 22, 2024, at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square, New York City. Outgoing AAPI President Dr. Anajana Samadder praised the event’s success, emphasizing its comprehensive offerings for all age groups. Keynote speaker Smriti Irani highlighted India’s contributions to global healthcare and acknowledged AAPI’s role in the U.S. healthcare system.

The congress, inaugurated by New York City Mayor Eric Adams, attracted over 1,000 physicians and featured 80 speakers, including Dr. Mehmet Oz and Eric Adams. Sessions focused on cutting-edge research, AI in healthcare, and professional networking. Notable sessions included talks on wellness by Dr. Oz, a CEO forum, and discussions on physician burnout by Swami Gyanvatsal.

AAPI’s Legislative Day addressed healthcare regulation, immigration, and insurance issues, with support from lawmakers like NY Councilwoman Susan Zhuang and NJ Senator Vin Gopal. The event also featured cultural programs, wellness activities, and sessions for young physicians.

AAPI Vice President Amit Chakrabarty highlighted the organization’s evolution over 42 years, representing over 120,000 Indian American physicians. Dr. Lokesh Edara emphasized the growing influence of Indian heritage doctors in U.S. healthcare. The congress celebrated AAPI’s contributions and set the stage for future advancements in global health.
