AAPI President Dr. Satheesh Kathula Honored with the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award

WASHINGTON, DC- Dr. Satheesh Kathula, President of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), received the prestigious President’s Lifetime Achievement Award on September 19, 2024, at the Hart Senate Building in Washington, DC. U.S. Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia presented the award in recognition of Dr. Kathula’s extensive contributions to healthcare, his community service, and his dedication to patients. Senator Manchin praised Dr. Kathula’s commitment, saying, “I just want to thank and congratulate Dr. Kathula for all he has done.”

Dr. Kathula, a resident of Ohio for 29 years, has been a leading figure in various healthcare initiatives and nonprofit organizations, including the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), where he was named Man of the Year in 2018. He has served in multiple leadership roles within AAPI, including Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President, and now President, having assumed the role in July 2024.

He is also the founding member of the Association of Indian Physicians from Ohio and has been involved in community service for over two decades. His initiatives include a Stem Cell/Bone Marrow Drive for Indian Americans and the “Million Miles of Gratitude” program to honor veterans. Dr. Kathula will be hosting the AAPI Global Health Summit in New Delhi in October 2025, focusing on preventive healthcare strategies.
