Aabaha Honored with ‘Project Grant’ by Georgia Council for the Arts

ATLANTA, GA- Aabaha, founded in 2019 by theater enthusiasts in Greater Metro Atlanta, has received a Project Grant from the Georgia Council for the Arts for fiscal year 2025. “The GCA grant is a wonderful recognition for us and gives us the opportunity to make our dreams into reality,” says Kallol Nandi, Founder and Director of Aabaha. The theater and art festival aims to connect stories from the Indian subcontinent community to a mainstream audience and bring diverse work from across the United States to Atlanta. This year, four local Metro Atlanta theater groups and three out-of-state groups from Chicago, Boston, and Philadelphia will perform.

Aabaha will host the Aabaha Art and Theater Festival 2024 (AATF 2024) on August 10 & 11 at Eagle Theatre, Sugar Hill, featuring groups like Atlanta Theater Workshop, Abhinayam, Dhoop Chaoon, Chicago Natyagosthi, Enad, and Kushilob. The GCA Project Grant funds various art projects, including theater productions and artist residencies, benefiting 45 entities across 19 counties with over $350,000.

The festival is an immersive cultural experience showcasing the Indian subcontinent’s theater diversity. It features captivating performances, interactive sessions, and a Seminar and Panel Discussion to foster cultural understanding. Additionally, the festival includes an art exhibition by local artists, creating a dynamic space for engagement and networking.
