‘Stuck In Politics Again’ Amid Kohli-Ganguly Controversy, Fans Feel Sorry For Rahul Dravid

Virat Kohli’s first press conference after being removed from the position of the ODI captain of the Indian cricket team sparked a great new controversy between the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and him.

When asked about when was he truly told by the BCCI selection committee that he will have to step down from the role of the skipper, Kohli said that the committee got in touch with him merely an hour and a half before breaking the news to him. He then specifically went on to mention that he had received absolutely no communication from the Indian cricket board regarding such a drastic and sudden change in regime.

However, the problem became significantly more severe when Kohli said that he received absolutely no negative feedback when he had decided to announce that he will be calling it quits as the captain of the team in T20Is back in September.

This was also the time when Kohli had shared a message from his social media accounts suggesting that he wanted to not be the leader of the squad in the shortest format of the game as he wanted to focus more on being a better batter and managing his workload. However, in the same message, Kohli had also clarified that by no means was he willing to step down as the ODI or Test cricket captain of the country.

I personally requested him (Kohli) not to give up the T20I captaincy :Sourav Ganguly

The part where he said that nobody was opposed to his wishes of quitting T20I captaincy has not created a lot of problems for Ganguly who had recently said that he’d made a “personal request” to Kohli to not give up the job.

Such contradictory comments have left a sour taste in the mouth of the fans of the Indian cricket team are now absolutely certain that one of the two big names around which Indian cricket revolves at the moment, is lying.

Kohli wears his heart on his sleeve. Here, Kohli had no choice to come out and give this statement he is being blamed whenever something goes wrong: @AlanSippy, Former Cricketer.@RShivshankar | #IndiaUpfront pic.twitter.com/zHTzcDs2rZ

Either Kohli is telling the truth, in which case Ganguly’s “personal request” comment was nothing but a PR stunt to keep himself away from the whole Kohli-Sharma controversy or Kohli refused to acknowledge Ganguly’s support because of one of the various reasons such as the fact that he played a crucial role in taking away his ODI captaincy and giving it to Rohit Sharma.

Nonetheless, among all the dramd that has unfolded in the past week, Indian fans have found themselves to be feeling sorry for the newly appointed head coach of the Men in Blue, Rahul Dravid, who has gotten surrounded by the politics of Indian cricket once again, as soon as he took up a high-profile job with the senior team.

In all this, i feel sorry for Rahul Dravid. What rotten luck. Takes over a team high on Test success over the last few years and the team plunges into chaos before his first overseas assignment. Prayers for his good health.

Also I’m sorry to say this but Virat Kohlis fans have no sense of decorum.

Absolute crass from them and body shaming Rohit for no reason.

Poor Rahul Dravid part of the whole drama. #IndvsSA
