‘Clicky handle is it?’ — David Warner bizarrely walks having not hit the ball in T20 World Cup semi-final

David Warner’s thrilling innings of 49 off 30 deliveries in the semi-final against Pakistan had an anticlimactic end as the left-hander walked despite Ultra Edge showing a flat line.

The first ball of the 11th over sent down by Shadab Khan saw the batter go after a short ball that bounced more than Warner anticipated. Upon first glance, the ball seemed to kiss the top-half of his boat as it carried to the wicketkeeper with a loud noise being heard as the ball passed bat. There was a big appeal, with Warner walking off without considering a review.

However, replays showed a flat line on UltraEdge, and to make the dismissal even more bizarre, the batter decided to walk even before a decision from the umpire could come in. The incident led to plenty of reactions, with people being amazed at how Warner could not figure out that he did not nick the ball.

Did David Warner not nick it? How could he not know? #PakvAus

Didn’t think I would ever see the day when a true Aussie warrior batsman like @davidwarner31 would just walk when ultra edge shows he missed the ball by quite a bit.. will now take a very special innings for Aus to pull this off ! #AusvPak

2 reviews with 10 overs to go is a lot. If Warner was slightly doubtful I am sure he would have reviewed. He must have been sure that he edged that.

Why did Warner not take the review? Big moment

Can’t get over that Warner wicket. Players don’t know what’s happened. DRS has shown us that umpires don’t really know either. Just televise the hawkeye feed updating live and be done with it

Warner in the thick of things. First a six of a double bounce, which (from the way he played) I’m sure was something he’d practiced. Then, not reviewing a ball that seems didn’t hit his bat. No matter who wins, I’m going to remember those two moments.
