Akshay Kumar’s Wise Words To Twinkle Khanna That Were Actually A Dialogue

In her latest column, Twinkle Khanna tells us about the time Akshay Kumar tried to pass off dialogue from an animated movie for advice.

In the column titled When the ceiling is leaking and so is your brain, Khanna talks of feeling spuddled, an archaic term meaning functioning inefficiently, as if on autopilot, as the mind is elsewhere. This could happen in the face of being overwhelmed. She spoke of being in bheja fry mode.

So, when a flustered Khanna told her husband about her inability to segregate her professional life from personal, working from home, and how it is driving her up the wall, she got ‘touching’ advice. “He frowned in the middle of chomping on his poha,” as he heard her and then said “your mind is everything. Wield it carefully or it will command you,” putting his hand on her shoulder.

Touched by the words, she held him in a tight embrace. She was moved enough by the words to later share them with her son, Aarav, who said, “Mom, that’s a dialogue from Kung Fu Panda.”

“Fed up with spuddling, I turned to friends and finally to Google Bhai Saab in order to come up with a few strategies that seem to do the trick,” she wrote.

However, at the end of the list of the techniques that did seem to work for her, there is one that may be inspired by her husband. Advising one to “Consult an animated guru,” she mentions how wise words are spoken in animated movies often, “Kung Fu Panda is not the only animated wise guru around.” She takes us to Dory’s well-known ‘just keep swimming’ as a mantra that is functional and perennially practical.

Kumar and Khanna were wed in 2001 and are parents to two children, Aarav Kumar and Nitara Kumar. The couple recently celebrated their 20th anniversary.
