QUEENS, NY — A 60-year-old woman was stabbed to death in Queens was she walking home with her husband.

Police sources said Nazma Khanam, a native of Bangladesh and aunt of an NYPD cop, was strolling with her husband along the south side of Normal Rd. near 161st St. in Jamaica Hills when she was knifed in the chest a block and a half from home around 9:15 pm on August 31.

The New York chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations has called on the NYPD to investigate whether bias could be a motive in the attack. Khanam was wearing a Muslim attire when she was killed.

Before she was knifed, her husband, who suffers from asthma, had stopped to catch his breath while she continued towards home without him.

Suddenly, the husband heard a scream and ran to his wife only to find her bleeding with a piece of the knife still sticking out of her chest, and called 911.

Nothing was stolen from the victim, who was carrying packages home.

Her husband told cops Khanam was out of his view when she was knifed.

A suspected Queens shooter of Imam and a friend have been nabbed by cops. Khanam was rushed to Jamaica Hospital where she died about an hour later.

Surveillance video reviewed by the police show Khanam and her husband walking and later a man running away from the scene of the stabbing. Investigators do not believe the husband is a suspect.
