WASHINGTON, DC- Arrests at the U.S. southern border have dropped to their lowest level since President Biden took office, with fewer than 60,000 arrests reported in July, according to sources. This decline is seen as significant for the Biden administration, though its implications for overall illegal immigration trends remain unclear.
Critics, such as the Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI), argue that the decrease does not indicate improved border security. IRLI’s Matt O’Brien suggests that seasonal factors like extreme summer heat naturally reduce border crossings, and he criticizes the administration’s handling of immigration, alleging that it is facilitating illegal entry through programs like the CBP One app.
The CBP One app, described by U.S. Customs and Border Protection as a tool to streamline various CBP services, has faced scrutiny, with opponents claiming it enables unlawful entry under the guise of asylum.
