HI INDIA NEWS DESK
WASHINGTON, DC- Citing a National Foundation for American Policy (NFAP) analysis of USCIS data, a recent Forbes report found that more than one million Indians are waiting in employment-based immigration backlogs. Most of these in the decades-long backlog to gain permanent residence or a green card are highly skilled professionals from India. The delays are owing to a per-country limit and the low annual quota. Indian backlog in the EB-2 category rose by more than 240,000 or 40% in approximately three years according to 2020 USCIS data.

In 2020, the Congressional Research Service (CRS) estimated the backlog for Indians in the top three employment-based green card categories would reach 2,195,795 individuals by FY 2030 and could take up to 195 years to eliminate the backlog.
