NEW DELHI, AUGUST 14

Former Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha on Saturday hit out at the Modi government for its economic policies, saying it had pushed the country in a cesspool of mess, including unemployment.

Addressing reporters, Sinha, who is also the national vice-president of the TMC, said the worrying development was the rising inflation.

He said the Modi government was bequeathed with an economy, which was growing at 6.39 per cent in 2013. It was growing after the 2008 global meltdown. It continued with a positive trend till 2016, after which it started sliding down each successive year, till it hit the trough of negative -7 .96 per cent during the Covid year, 2020. — TNS
