BUY-SELL | HELP WANTED | MATRIMONIAL

After a long wait, Ranveer Singh’s The Big Picture aired on television on Saturday, October 16. Famous Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan have had successful TV ventures in the past and now Ranveer has got a chance to entice the small-screen audience with his show. Similar to Kaun Banega Crorepati, the contestants are asked questions but the twist here is that the participants have to answer based on a picture. If the contestant wins, he or she can take back the winning prize of Rs 5 crore.

Speaking about his television debut, Ranveer Singh said, “In my journey as an artist, the urge to experiment and explore has been constant. Indian cinema has undeniably given me everything – it’s been a platform for me to excel and showcase my skills as an actor and I have been fortunate to get immense love from the people of India. Now, I look to connect with them in an extremely unique and engaging way through my television debut with Colors’ The Big Picture. The proposition of introducing India to a ‘now’ generation quiz show sealed the deal for me. I am delighted to associate with Colors to bring alive this exciting new property.”

Sonipat’s Karishma Toor, a constable, became the first contestant to play the game and ended up winning Rs 20 lakh. Ranveer was a powerhouse of energy on the show and interacted with the contestants on a personal level.

The second contestant to play the game was Abhay Singh, who talked about how his father died when he was just seven. Ranveer was teary-eyed after listening to Abhay’s story. “My father died when I was in Class 7. I could not understand what was happening then, I was so young. I had never experienced death until then. I could not have cried in front of my family and no one would have understood even if I did. My mother has worked so hard. We did not have enough money at home that all my siblings could be sent to school,” Abhay told Ranveer on stage. The actor couldn’t hold back his tears and had no qualms about showing his emotions on the stage.

Overall, in the first episode, there were emotional moments, drama, and Ranveer’s crazy energy. A few people appreciated the show and the anchor but many did not approve of the content.

People have been trolling the show and felt Ranveer was over-acting. They also felt that the show is nothing but a Bollywood version of KBC. They also added that the whole Abhay sequence looked scripted.
