Valencia (Spain), May 7: Valencia head coach Salvador 'Voro' Gonzalez has confirmed he will quit his post at the end of the football season.

The 53-year-old on Saturday made his declaration during a press conference ahead of Sunday's league match at home against Osasuna, reports Xinhua news agency.

Voro stepped in as caretaker coach on December 30 after Italian Cesare Prandelli resigned from the role.

He had also been in the role earlier in the season before Prandelli replaced Paco Ayestaran, who lasted for just four games of the current campaign.

During his time in charge, Voro has led Valencia to eight wins from 20 matches and seen their play improve enough to lift the club away from the relegation zone to mid-table, although three defeats in their last three games ended any slim chances of qualifying for Europe next season.

"I am not angry or disappointed at the decision. I am a club man," said Voro.

Current Las Palmas boss Quique Setien is the favourite to take over the Valencia hotseat for next season and to become Valencia's 10th coach since Unai Emery left the club in the summer of 2012.
