Vistara’s first aircraft lands in India

New Delhi, Sep 25 (IANS) Tata Son’s full-service airline joint venture with Singapore Airlines – Vistara – on Thursday took the delivery of its first Airbus A320-200 aircraft.

"The selection of the modern Airbus A320 family aircraft is part of our strategy to offer the best service to our customers. The proven and reliable quality of Airbus meets our stringent standards for safety, cabin comfort, fuel efficiency and overall operational reliability," said Phee Teik Yeoh, chief executive, Vistara.

According to the company, it has also signed a comprehensive maintenance agreement with Airbus, which is a first of its kind for any airline in India. The first of 20 A320 Family aircraft to be leased from BOC Aviation.

The company said the aircraft arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport, and will move towards operational launch in October 2014.

The JV airline has Tata Sons holding a majority stake of 51 percent with Singapore Airlines having the remaining 49 percent.
