Ballia: A man was arrested for allegedly posting an objectionable picture of UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Facebook, the police said on Saturday. The accused has been identified as Adarsh Choubey of Chaubey Chhapra village in Ballia, the police said. — PTI

Fast-track cases of assault on doctors, Centre tells states

New Delhi: The Centre today sent a communiqueacute; to the states and UTs to mandatorily register FIRs and invoke the stringent Epidemic Diseases (Amendment) Act, 2020, against those who indulge in assault on doctors and healthcare workers.

In a letter, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla wrote, “Institutional FIRs should be registered against the culprits and such cases should be fast-tracked. Any incident of assault on doctors or healthcare professionals may dampen their morale and create a sense of insecurity. — TNS

ED freezes funds of Qatar crime accused

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) said it had frozen investments worth Rs 88 lakh in India of Subrahmanya Srinivas Pinninti from Qatar in connection with a money laundering probe. The ED, in a statement, said it issued freeze orders against Pinninti, Head of Buyers Department in Al Meera Consumer Goods Company, Doha, to safeguard proceeds of crime worth Rs 88 lakh. — TNS
