Under-23 category for junior squash tourney at Delhi Gymkhana Club

New Delhi, June 25: The Summer Classic junior squash championship started on Saturday with the introduction of an under-23 category for both boys and girls at the Delhi Gymkhana Club (DGC) here.

Apart from the new category, the budding racqueteers will take part in the SRFI-ranking categories of u-11, u-13, u-15, u-17, u-19 for both boys and girls in the six-day event.

Some of the top seeds in the u-23 category include local girl Tanvi Khanna, who won third place in an Asian Juniors Championship while Delhi's Adya Advani and Uttar Pradesh's Ranjit Singh are in the u-19 category. 

Another local boy Saksham Choudhary is the top seed in the U-17 category and Ansh Tripathi of Uttarakhand is in the U-11 category.

As many as 364 participants, including top seeds from 18 states and union territories will have the opportunity to showcase their talent and improve their national rankings.

The battle for top honours will step up after the qualifying rounds on Saturday and Sunday. The winners will carry home a purse of Rs 4,00,000.
