NEW YORK, NY — Indian American physics savants Sanjay Raman and Shreyas Balaji were part of the US Physics Team that took the eighth place out of 88 competing countries at the recent 48th International Physics Olympiad.
Two Indians shine at Physics Olympiad
NEW YORK, NY — Indian American physics savants Sanjay Raman and Shreyas Balaji were part of the US Physics Team that took the eighth place out of 88 competing countries at the recent 48th International Physics Olympiad.
The nine-day Olympiad themed ‘Joyful Camaraderie Beyond the Speed of Light!’ took place in Yogya, Indonesia, from July 16 through July 24 with the US team winning three gold medals and two silver medals.
A team from India was among the countries–Vietnam and Romania were the others–which won four golds and one silver.
For the US, Balaji of John Foster Dulles High School in Sugar Land, Texas; Jimmy Qin of Sanford, Fla.; and Kye Shi of Watsonville, Calif.; won gold medals. Raman of Lakeside School in Seattle, Wash.; and Michelle Song of Fremont, Calif., won silver medals.
