Chandigarh, September 6

Two cash trucks that were heading towards the Reserve Bank of India’s Sector 17 branch crashed into one another on Madhya Marg, wounding four people—among them two cops—officials said.

The accident occurred on the road that divides Sector 28 from Sector 26.

It took two cranes, a team of firefighters, and several policemen to pull out the victims from the wreckage, officials said.

The two vehicles were among five that were taking cash from the Chandigarh Railway Station to RBI’s Sector 17 branch.

When the driver of a truck applied his brakes after crossing the TPT light point, two other trucks rammed into it from behind, trapping four occupants of the two vans, officials said. Officials said that the two trucks were reportedly rashly driven.

A woman constable who was accompanying one of the trucks was pulled out with particular difficulty because her legs were trapped in the vehicle, officials said. She was then taken to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, officials said.

Officials said police have booked drivers of both trucks on the basis of a complaint of a victim, Constable Ram Singh.
