NASHVILLE, TN— Three children were tragically killed in a shooting at The Covenant School, a private Christian grade school in Nashville, Tennessee on Monday. According to hospital officials, the children suffered from gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead upon arrival at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital. The suspect involved in the shooting is also reported to be dead after a confrontation with the police.
This tragedy comes as the nation is grappling with a series of school shootings, including the massacre at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, the shooting of a first-grade teacher in Virginia, and a recent shooting in Denver that left two administrators injured.

The details surrounding the shooting are still unclear, including whether anyone else was injured, and the cause of the suspect’s death. The Metro Nashville Police have stated that the shooter was “engaged by” officers, but it remains unknown if the shooter died by suicide or was shot by the police.
The police presence at the scene was significant, with officers equipped with rifles, heavy vests, and helmets seen patrolling the school parking lot and surrounding areas. The Nashville fire department also responded to the scene, referring to it as an “active aggressor” situation, but no further details have been released.
