Thieves use trucks to steal Newark ATMs

nj policeBY A STAFF WRITER

NEWARK , NJ – The police in New Jersey’s largest city are trying to determine if there is a connection between the latest attempts to use a truck to steal an ATM.

Suspects crashed a truck into a dry cleaning business on McCarter Highway around 2:30 am on November 14. The ATM became stuck under the truck and the suspects fled.

Meanwhile, thieves later crashed a truck into a nearby Applebee’s restaurant on Springfield Avenue and made off with the ATM.

A stolen pickup also slammed into a Newark downtown convenience store last week and thieves made off with the cash-dispensing machine.
