London, Sep 27:  Legendary British rock band ‘The Who’ will release its first new song in eight years before travelling to Britain and the US to mark the 50th anniversary of its creation.

"Be Lucky" will be included in the 2-CD retrospective "The Who hits 50!" set for release Nov 3, the band said on its website.

"Be Lucky" was produced by Dave Eringa, known for his previous work with the Manic Street Preachers, Wilko Johnson and Roger Daltrey.

Joining Daltrey and fellow surviving member Pete Townsend on the cut were long-time collaborators Zak Starkey – son of former Beatle Ringo Starr – on drums and Pino Palladino on bass.

Original drummer Keith Moon died of a drug overdose in 1978, while bass player John Entwistle succumbed to a heart attack in 2002.

The band will donate its royalties from "Be Lucky" to Teen Cancer America, a foundation established in 2011 by Daltrey and Townshend.

‘The Who’ will tour Britain Nov 30 to Dec 18 and take a break before heading to the US in 2015.(Bollywood Country Report)
