Telugu association marks Sankranthi and R-Day

LEMONT, IL – The Tri-state Telugu Association (TTA) kicked off the New Year by celebrating Sankranthi and Republic day with great joy at the Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago in Lomont, IL on January 16.

The event began with chanting of prayers by Varun Vasireddy, Pranathi Kallgotla’s team and Hemalatha Burra’s team. Purusha Suktham was recited with perfection by the kids.
The evening was packed with several vocal, instrumental, Tollywood and Bollywood dance performances. South Indian classical Kuchipudi dance was performed by Sobha Tammana’s team and Janaki Anandavalli Nair’s team.
The vocal performance by Musunuri sisters of classic composition was a highlight of the evening. Solo vocal performances by Samanvita Kallgotla, Bhavana Dronamraju, Roshini Balantrapu, Vishnu Saketh Bommisetty were sweet and served as good filler items.
While film and folk dance items by choreographers Shallni Dixit, Manasa Dandu and Jyothi Vangara were stunning, the musical skit for the national integration song Vande Maatram by Sri Lakshmi Duwapu’s team was applauded by all.
The kids were showered with Bhogi Pallu on stage to keep up the Sankranthi tradition for good health from Lord Surya.
Pranathi Kaligotla was the MC for the evening. Maruthi Satyavolu was a star mimicry artist in the Chicago area who co-hosted the event with short mimicry items.
The celebration ended with a grand finale of vocal and instrumental music concert of Ravi Avasarala’s team. Hemachandra and family walked away with a lucky prize of Samsung Galaxy tablet in a special drawing for all the attendees.
On the whole TTA office-bearers team put together a very good show for the Telugu community in the Chicago area.
