CHICAGO, IL — A 17-year-old has been charged with hijacking an FBI agent’s car.
The teen was arrested on July 4, a day after the car—with guns and a bulletproof vest inside–was stolen in the West Loop, the police said. The SUV was found that night in the 900 block of South Leavitt Street, where the car had been left and gotten a ticket.
The car was taken about 12:09 am on July 3 when the driver left the engine running and walked away for a moment in the 300 block of South Morgan Street. The teen got into the car and sped off as the agent tried to get the car back. The agent was dragged by the car.
The SUV contained several guns, tactical gear and a ballistic vest, an FBI spokesman said.
Some of that equipment was found in another car on July 3, but officials said they hadn’t found the guns yet.
The teen has been charged with vehicular hijacking, aggravated battery of a government employee and unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
