TAGC celebrates Republic Day

CHICAGO, IL — Telugu Association of Greater Chicago (TAGC), which has been promoting the rich heritage of the Telugu culture and language, kick-started 2017 with a mega event with Makara Sankranti and Republic day on January 21 at HTGC Sri Rama Temple Auditorium, Lemont, Illinois.

According to TAGC president Ramachandra Reddy Ade, some 1250 guests attended the event held in festival atmosphere with beautiful Bommalakoluvu under the leadership of Swetha.

The event showcased several cultural activities depicting Telugu culture and traditions, including Sankranti-theme song dances and patriotic song dances, a Sri Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna concert, Bambola Jambha & Maa Ayana super comedy skit, etc with 350 participants.

Apart from charity work on bone marrow transplants for cancer patients, a debate was held on impact of social media on kids.

A tasty and traditional dinner was sponsored by Bawachi Indian Restaurant Naperville with Kovapuri sweet sponsored by Satya Kondapalli.
