CHICAGO, IL — Suzy’s Place, a non-profit shelter for women in distress, is offering free daily iftar/dinner to needy women and children in The Rogers Park Neighborhood of Chicago.
According to Arshia Hasnain, executive director of Suzy’s Place, due to the diverse population in Roger’s park, the shelter has people coming from all nationalities and background for dining.
“Volunteering inspires tomorrow’s leaders. It is through these volunteer opportunities that we create a better community and engage future leaders. We at Suzy’s Place are thankful to all our dedicated volunteers who come daily to help set up, serve food and clean up. Their dedication and enthusiasm to serve is commendable,” she said.
Suzy’s Place’s Ramadan campaign is one of its outreach programs into the community that brings about awareness of the voluntary organization.
The domestic violence shelter provides transitional housing and rehabilitation services such as free legal assistance, individual and group counseling, weekly empowerment classes for women, educational support, basic healthcare assistance, life management skills, assistance with placement of jobs and safe long-term residential options.
