Sporting beat Gil Vicente 2-0 in Portuguese football league

Lisbon, Feb 23 : Sporting Lisbon beat Gil Vicente 2-0 in the 22nd round of the Portuguese league at the Jose Alvalade Stadium here.

Japanese forward Junya Tanaka opened the scoring in the 52nd minute and Nani added another in the 69th Sunday, reports Xinhua.

Sporting dominated the match, though Gil Vicente missed a decisive scoring opportunity a minute before half-time through midfielder Diogo Viana, whose effort went wide.

Sporting remains third in the Portuguese league with 47 points and Gil Vicente stands 17th with 17 points.
