Sangareddy: A farmer, who climbed a tree while chasing a group of langurs from his field, fell off the tree when honey bees attacked him at Haddanur village in Nyalkal Mandal on Sunday.
The victim was identified as Gummadi Venkat Reddy, a tenant farmer. According to locals, Venkat Reddy, his wife Vittamma and son Shekar Reddy went to their field and saw a group of langurs feeding on the cotton flowers. They tried to chase them away, and to escape from them, the langurs climbed a tree. In a bid to chase langurs out of his field, Reddy climbed a tree unaware of a honey comb. When the bees attacked him, Reddy fell off the tree. He sustained serious injuries. The bees also attacked Vittamma and Shekar. Reddy was rushed to Area Hospital Zaheerabad where he died while undergoing treatment. Haddanur police registered a case.
