Rotary Club’s Annual Fundraiser Gala and Award Ceremony Triumphantly Hosted by RCOP in NJ

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – The Rotary Club of Plainsboro, North and South Brunswick (RCOP) held their annual fundraiser Gala at Royal Albert’s Palace in New Jersey on Friday, May 19, 2023. Over 300 people attended the event, including local elected officials, business entrepreneurs, supporters, and Rotary Club members. RCOP, established in 2002, has been actively involved in humanitarian projects locally and internationally.

The evening began with appetizers, cocktails, and networking. Young singer Sia Dixit performed the National Anthem and led the Pledge of Allegiance. RCOP President Vijay Garg welcomed everyone and highlighted the club’s accomplishments over the past year. Sudharani Kankanala and Aruhi Vakkalagadda showcased Rotary and Interact projects, including international initiatives organized by RCOP.

Elected officials like Edison Mayor Sam Joshi, Middlesex County Commissioner Shanti Narra, and New Jersey State Assemblywoman Sadaf Jaffer attended the event and praised RCOP’s community engagement and service. Shanti Narra and Rajesh Mehta, distinguished elected officials, were honored for their outstanding public service. Assemblywoman Jaffer presented a NJ State Senate Proclamation from Senator Vin Gopal to RCOP President Vijay Garg.

Five individuals received recognition for their exceptional community service, philanthropy, and humanitarian efforts. Bina Mehta was acknowledged for her assistance in earthquake relief efforts in Turkey and Syria. Amar Reddy of SmartIMS, Vinay Mahajan of ITServe Alliance, Thomas V. Allen, and Govind Rajan were also honored for their remarkable contributions to the community.

The Annual Fundraising Gala and recognition ceremony received applause from attendees and dignitaries. The funds raised during the event will support international projects addressing chronic diseases, clean water and sanitation, maternal and child health, education for underprivileged individuals, local economies, environmental protection, and disaster relief efforts. RCOP also contributes to local food pantries, provides scholarships to high school students, develops youth job skills, and offers leadership opportunities through community projects.

The event featured captivating performances, including a Kuchipudi Ganesh dance by Tarika Yellula, a classical dance by Grishma Parikh, and a Bollywood dance performance by Tarika and Bhuvan of TARA Arts Academy. A fashion show showcasing Khadi outfits and promoting Khadi was choreographed by Sonal Gadhvi. Local artists, including Priyasha Sanyal, Lipika Jena, and Harshitha Yarralagadda, entertained attendees with melodious Bollywood songs. Incoming President Venkat Jagarlamudi expressed appreciation, followed by a concluding session of singing and dancing. The event’s master of ceremony was skillfully conducted by Kunal Mehta of RCOP.
