Roberta Vinci ends season with defeat against Kvitova

Zhuhai (China), Nov 2: Italian Roberta Vinci was beaten by Czech Petra Kvitova 1-6, 2-6 at the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Elite Trophy here on Wednesday.

The fifth-seeded Italian had suffered another loss against Czech Barbora Strycova on Tuesday and failed to reach the tournament semi-finals, reports Efe.

Vinci, a semi-finalist in this tournament last year, lost against the third-seeded Kvitova, who will play against her compatriot Strycova to the advance to the penultimate round.

The tournament includes the invited Chinese Zhang Shuai, plus the players ranked from the ninth to 19th position.
