Rangla Punjab 2023: A Sold-Out Spectacle Showcasing The Vibrant Punjabi Culture in Chicago

CHICAGO, IL- The Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago (PCS) held its annual event “Rangla Punjab” to celebrate the Vaisakhi festival on March 25, 2023. Over 1000 people attended the event at MAC Auditorium in College of DuPage, Glen Ellyn, Illinois, where 260 children and adults performed Punjabi folk dances Bhangra and Giddha, played music, and socialized. The event was the 29th annual celebration by PCS and is the largest annual Punjabi cultural event in the Chicago area. The event was aimed at promoting local talent and showcasing the Punjabi performing arts to a family audience.
The program consisted of 28 performance items divided into three parts, including Punjabi folk dances, music, and a comedy skit. The program was emceed by several individuals and the performances were well received by the audience. The event was a great community building effort and helped the Punjabi youth come closer to their heritage, language, culture, and community.
Navtej Singh Sohi and Rajinder Singh Mago provided backstage support to the performing teams, emcees and the stagehands. Jigerdeep Singh Dhillon provided support to the sound and light technicians and arranged security.
Bhupinder Singh Dhaliwal, Bhinder Singh Pamma, Vick Singh, Parvinder Singh Nanua, and Jasbir Singh Palia helped with the awards distribution.
The program ended with a raffle, and prizes including an iPad, iPad Mini, and Apple Watch were given to the winners. The event was organized by the PCS officials with the help of coordinators, volunteers, and community sponsors. The Grand Sponsor was Dr. Bhupinder Singh Saini, and the Platinum Sponsor was Chairman Nick Balwinder Singh. Delicious VIP dinner was catered by Singh’s Kitchen.
