SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Two San Francisco teens arrested on August 8th for the attack on a 71-year-old Sikh man in Central California. Tyrone McAllister, the 18-year-old son of a San Francisco Bay Area police officer, and a 16-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery, elder abuse, and assault with a deadly weapon.
Union City Police Chief Darryl McAllister stated that his family “is shaken to the core” following this incident.
According to Manteca police, Sahib Singh, who does not speak english, was assaulted while walking on a sidewalk next to a park.
Surveillance footage revealed Singh being approached by two hooded people. Singh tried to walk away and put his hands up as the men confronted him. The video shows one man kicking Singh in the chest, knocking him to the ground as his turban falls off. He stands up and tries to defend himself as the other man kicks him once again, knocking him down once more. The attackers kick him several more times and spit on him before leaving.
Police stated that Singh suffered minor injuries and that the motive for the attack appeared to be robbery.
Darryl McAllister released a statement on August 8th, stating that his son had been estranged from the family for several months and had not been home. McAllister and his wife cooperated with Manteca police in order to track down his son, who now faces felony charges and prison time.
This was the second attack in a week on a Sikh man in Central California.
