Over 96,000 Indians Tried to Enter US Illegally in Last One Year



In an unprecedented, five-fold increase from previous years, a staggering 96,917 undocumented Indians tried to cross the US border between 2022-23. A new data released from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection says that between the fiscal year October 2022 to September 2023 a total of 96,917 Indians were encountered. They were either apprehended, expelled or denied entry as they had entered the U.S. without papers. This number shows a fivefold increase from the same period from 2019 to 2020, the number of such cases that were registered stood at just 19,883. The steep rise has led to the experts debating on the possible reasons why Indians maybe resorting to unlawfully entering the US, when the process is full of risks
