MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — Soulforce Leadership, a Mountain View, Calif.-based non-profit organization, which trains youth leaders (high school students) to be peace-makers and change-makers in their own communities, recently won the Inspire Mountain View Grants Challenge, receiving a $100,000 grant to aid them in their work.
The Mountain View Grants Challenge was sponsored by four companies based in the city: Symantec, Google, LinkedIn, and Synapsis. These companies and city leaders, according to a press release, came together to ask the community what they can do to create a more compassionate and equitable community.
Finalists were chosen by a steering committee of business and city leaders, and then the community voted on the projects they wanted to see win the grant.
Soulforce Leadership, founded by Poonam Singh, trains high school students to be peace-makers and change-makers in their communities, using principles of mindfulness, compassion, and nonviolence.
The organization believes that love is a real political and social strategy to bring people together and make change happen in the world.
