Mumbai, May 20: The new &TV show,"The Voice India", which will feature many noted Bollywood singers, will promote "unconventional" singing talent, musician-actor Himesh Reshammiya, who will be seen playing a coach in the show, said at its launch here on Tuesday.

Hosted by actor Karan Tacker, the Indian version of the internationally-acclaimed TV show "The Voice", which will be aired from June 6, will see Himesh, Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan and Mika Singh as coaches, who will lead their respective teams to finale through three phases – Blinds, Battles and Live.

"The concept of ‘The Voice’ has received acclamation worldwide. The show will have blind auditions where the coaches will pick contestants without seeing them. It will be a unique concept for the Indian audience," Himesh said.

"I’ve given space to many newcomers through the reality shows that I’ve been part of. As a composer, I’m looking out for some unconventional voices in this one," he added.

Mika and Sunidhi were also present at the launch ceremony along with Himesh. However, Shaan could not attend it as the 42-year-old singer is currently in the US.

The event, which took place here on the set of the show, witnessed some energetic performances by Sunidhi, Mika and Himesh, who sang some of their hit songs like "Piku", "Subah hone na de" and "Hookah bar".

Sunidhi, who looked ravishing in her new "zero size" avatar, said: "People will see my new look in the show. However, losing weight was not intentional for ‘The Voice India’. Now that I’m planning to make my own composition, I would love to hear more melodious voices."

On his association with the show, Mika said: "Young talented singers will get a good platform with ‘The Voice India’ to showcase their work to the nation. The show is a stepping stone for them to learn all the basics of a good singer. I’m thrilled to be a part of it."

Karan Tacker, who will make his debut as a host in the reality show, said he was excited.

"I’m really excited to host this show. But at the same time I’m nervous also as it’s not easy to host a show singlehandedly and keep everybody entertained. ‘The Voice India’ is a challenge for me. The show will be much more than an emotional drama," he said.

The weekend show is touted to be a musical delight for music lovers, who are in search for some new and different singers.

"The show is our first step towards presenting an impactful property in the reality space. The format enjoys immense popularity worldwide and we are certain that it will find favour with the Indian audience as they are passionate music lovers," said Rajesh Iyer, business head, &TV.
