Milwaukee, WI— After 5 years of dedication, effort, and consistent service, Governor Scott Walker has declared August 15th as “India Day” in the State of Wisconsin, honoring India, in lieu of the efforts by Spindle India, Inc.’s IndiaFest Milwaukee. The 1st official India Day of Wisconsin was celebrated on August 18th through IndiaFest.

Mayor of Milwaukee, Tom Barrett, commended Spindle India, Inc. & IndiaFest Milwaukee for dedicated service and leadership, and recognized its outstanding contributions to the community and proclaimed Aug 18th, 2018 as Milwaukee’s India Day.

“It is a tremendous milestone, recognition, and proud moment for all the South Asian Indian population in Wisconsin and beyond,” expressed Founder, Chairwoman, and President of Spindle India, Inc., Purnima Nath.

The national anthem of both countries touched the hearts of Wisconsin. Patriotic songs and dances by our children made it extra special and connected the community to our motherland.

IndiaFest Milwaukee 2018 was the most vibrant and exciting way to experience “India.” The fest included over 380 cultural program participants, with 10 hours of non-stop cultural programs, henna, jewelry, clothing, and authentic cuisine. Back to back concerts performed by internationally renowned artists also took place.

Authentic Indian cuisine, classical to contemporary music, and dance illustrated the culture of different Indian states & regions. The goal was to bring businesses and people together, by relentlessly
promoting Diversity, Inclusion, Culture, Collaboration and Education (#DICCE). Professional development, youth engagement, and service commitment are the primary concentration of work; and
it was evident on the day.

IFM 2018 was supported by Air India, State Bank of Chilton, Trayix, Travel Wisconsin, Visit Milwaukee, Wisconsin Public Radio, Desi Market, India Garden and Wisdom Infotech.
