MGC St. Louis Organizes Seniors Social Meet

ST LOUIS, MO— Mahatma Gandhi Cultural Center (MGC) hosted another Seniors Social on Saturday, August 11th in St. Louis, MO. This free program for seniors was attended by over 125 residents of the American-Indian community from the greater St. Louis area.

The program started with an early afternoon of socializing and lunch, followed by live musical entertainment. Many highly informative lectures relevant for the elderly were organized on this occasion. Geriatrician Speech given by Dr. Miriam Rodin, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Geriatric Psychiatrist Dr. Jahanvi Handa and Dr. Vijaya Kumar Buddhiraju on different topics. MGC president, Dr. Girdhar G. Sharma thanked all these expert speakers with bouquets of flowers as token of appreciation for their time and efforts to serve the seniors.

On this occasion, MGC honored a few senior members of the community for their exceptional services. Dr. Raghunandan Dundoo & Mrs. Shanta Dundoo, Dr. GV Naidu & Dr. Rajyalakshmi Naidu, Dr. Ranjit Bagwe & Dr. Lata Bagwe, and Dr. Elly Barua Bhuyan were honored by Dr. Kamal Yadav and Mrs. Sudha Yadav on behalf of MGC, with plaques and bouquets of flowers for their remarkable contributions and outstanding self-less services to the community.

Live musical entertainment, “Sureeli Yaadein” was performed by singers Neeta Shahapeti and Manoaj Khatod who sang many golden oldies and hindi songs requested by the audience. MGC Seniors Social was highly appreciated by everyone in attendance, who thanked all of the members of the MGC board of directors for organizing such a special event.
