CHICAGO, IL — Gov. Bruce Rauner has announced the appointment of Rosemont Mayor Bradley Stephens to the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority Board of Directors.

Mayor Craig Johnson of Elk Grove and Mayor David Gonzalez of Chicago Heights are also serving as Directors.

“Mayor Stephens has proven to be an economic force in the Chicagoland area, driving innovation and commercial development within the Village of Rosemont,” said Rauner. “His experience, creativity and tenacity will be an asset to the Illinois Tollway.”

Stephens, 55, has served the Village of Rosemont as Mayor for over a decade. During his tenure, he initiated developments ranging from a $250 million fashion outlet and Parkway Bank Park to a series of hotels, restaurants and other retail spaces.

Most recently, Rosemont became home to Impact Field, a 6,300-seat, $63-million state-of-the-art ballpark and home of the Chicago Dogs minor league baseball program.

Stephens was first elected Mayor by the Village Board in May 2007. In addition to his municipal service, he served as Leyden Township Trustee and Supervisor and is currently the Leyden Township Republican Committeeman. He was also a member of the PACE Board of Directors since 2013 until his appointment to the Tollway Board.

“The Village of Rosemont itself sits at a central point of the Illinois Tollway system, giving Mayor Stephens firsthand knowledge of the economic benefit of a strong transportation system, and the benefits it can provide to local municipalities and employers,” said Illinois Tollway Board chairman Robert Schillerstrom.

Locally, Mayor Stephens is a generous supporter of several charitable organizations including Helping Hand, benefiting needy families in Rosemont. He also supports veterans’ organizations and children’s medical research organizations, and has received “The Hope Award” for his work on behalf of the Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
