LANHAM, MD. – A man from Prince George’s County, who wishes to remain anonymous but goes by the nickname ‘Happy Dad,’ won a $5 million lottery jackpot on a scratch-off game that celebrated the Maryland Lottery’s 50th anniversary. He claimed his prize on March 13th.
The father of two from New Carrollton plans to use his winnings to pay off his house, take care of other bills, and put his children through college.
The scratch-off game, called ’50 Years!,’ was released on February 20th as part of the Lottery’s 50th-anniversary celebration. While the lucky winner claimed one of the two $5 million top prizes, there are still nine $100,000 winners, six $50,000 tickets, and 80 $10,000 winning scratch-offs available.
The winning ticket was purchased at Liquor City on Annapolis Road in Lanham, and the store will receive a $5,000 bonus from the Lottery.
