Makeup Retailer Morphe Cosmetics Closes All US Stores

Makeup retailer Morphe Cosmetics recently shuttered all of its stores in the United States.

“We have made the difficult decision to close all Morphe stores in the U.S. We are forever grateful to our store teams for their passion, talent and dedication over the years,” the company shared in a tweet on Jan. 5.

The beauty brand made the decision to abruptly shutter its stores, leaving many employees and customers bewildered by the closings.

Several former employees sounded off about the sudden closures via TikTok. Many of them were given a day’s notice before being laid off, according to NBC News.

“Customers can continue to shop Morphe online and at select retailers. Morphe stores outside the U.S. will remain open,” a follow-up tweet read.

Forma Brands, Morphe’s parent company, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy a week after the store closings.

Morphe is known for its affordable makeup kits and tools. The brand is also popular for collaborating with social media influencers.

Morphe was founded in 2008 in Los Angeles, California.

The retailer operated 27 stores throughout the United States before the closings.
